Lock Latch

How do I install a lock on a swinging Glass Door?
I have a swinging glass door that does not have any holes or notches. There is a fixed narrow Glass Panel on one side, and the actual main swinging panel.
Is there a lock which I can mount to the glass to make the door lockable? I was told it cannot be done as the glass is tempered, which cannot be drilled, and to mount any lock requires cutting into the glass. I do not mind if the lock latches into the floor.
Chances are that there is some sort of metal rail at the top and bottom. Minimally even a smal square of metal on the top or bottom. This can be retrofitted with a typical lock made for All Glass Door systems. The locks bolt will extrude up into the header or down into the floor.
Contact a local glass company for direction.
